SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME FOR DIASPORA CHILDREN (SPDC)

The Ministry of External Affairs has instituted the Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children (SPDC) Scheme for pursuing undergraduate courses in India. Under the Scheme 150 scholarships are awarded to the children of PIO/NRIs: children of Indian workers working in ECR countries; and children of Indian workers working in ECR countries but the children are studying in India. The objective of the Scheme is to provide financial assistance to those is genuine need. In order for an PIO/NRI to be eligible for the Scheme the monthly gross income of the parents of the candidates shall not be more than US$4000.

The Institutions covered under the Scheme are:

  • NITs, IITs, Schools of Planning and Architecture

  • ‘A’ Grade institutions accredited by NAAC and recognised by UGC

  • Central Universities of India

  • Other institutions covered under DASA Scheme

Under the Scheme partial financial assistance to the extent of 75% of the total Institutional Economic Cost (IEC) subject to a maximum of US$4000 per annum is borne by Government of India.
