Mrs. Abhilasha Joshi joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1995. She served as Third Secretary/ Language Trainee in the Indian Embassy in Lisbon on her first assignment and thereafter served in various capacities in the Ministry of External Affairs as Under Secretary (Sri Lanka) and Deputy Secretary (Saarc). She has also served as the Regional Passport Officer in Visakhapatnam. She had earlier worked in the Consulate General of India in São Paulo as Consul Commerce. She was Deputy Director General in the Indian Council for Cultural Relations before assuming the charge of the post of Consul General in CGI, São Paulo on 1 May 2014.

Mrs. Joshi is a post graduate in Psychology from Delhi University and completed her schooling from St Mary's Convent, Nainital.
